What we store about you
- Your GitHub identity: your GitHub user id and login, and the name and email address GitHub shares, if any. Sign-in asks GitHub for no repository access. We keep the sign-in token, encrypted, so we can revoke it when you delete your account.
- Your invite, while sign-ups are invite-only: the GitHub login it was for, and when you used it.
- Sessions for the apps you’re signed in to, stored as one-way hashes.
- Your machine’s record: its plan, state and network address.
- A task index: each task’s id, title, status, repository, branch and pull request link, so the apps can list them. Unless you give a task a title, its title is the first line of your prompt, cut at 80 characters. While an agent waits for your decision, we also keep its short summary of what it’s asking. We don’t store the rest of your prompts, or your transcripts or code.
- Push notification tokens for your devices, so we can send approvals and task updates. Notifications show a task’s title and repository, and pass through Apple to reach you.
Your machine
Your code, your agents’ work and the credentials you give your agents live on your machine, not in our database. Agent credentials are kept in an encrypted vault on the machine. We don’t look at what’s on your machine. We’d only access it to keep the service running or if the law required it, and we’d tell you if we did, unless the law forbids that.
Your AI providers
You sign in to Anthropic, OpenAI and the other agent vendors with your own account or key. Your prompts go from your machine straight to them, under your agreement with them. We don’t see or store that traffic.
Who processes data for us
- Hetzner hosts your machine and our servers, in its EU data centres.
- GitHub for sign-in and, if you connect it, for your repositories.
- Apple delivers push notifications.
- Cloudflare provides DNS.
- Resend sends our emails and receives mail sent to quartz.computer addresses. When you email us, Resend passes your message to our team’s inbox. Our servers forward it without storing it.
Backups
During the alpha, machines are not backed up. Keep your work pushed to GitHub. When backups arrive, this page will say where they’re kept and for how long before they’re switched on.
Our own database, which holds the records above, is backed up nightly. Each backup is kept for 14 days on our servers at Hetzner.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings in the Mac or iPhone app. It takes effect immediately: we sign you out everywhere, delete your machine, revoke our GitHub access, and erase your records. Copies in our database backups expire within 14 days. We keep only what the law makes us keep, such as invoices once paid plans exist.
